Elder Emo Night with Jessie Lee

Las Vegas, NV July 8, 2023 – Jessie Lee’s “Elder Emo Night”

Hello My Drearies and my Emoters,

I wanted to introduce you to Elder Emo Night at the @tripledownvegas (adjacent to the Punk Rock Museum) in Las Vegas, NV, and Jessie Lee, the event’s hostess and curator.

This unforgettable evening of music and nostalgia at the Elder Emo Night with Jessie Lee will happen on July 8, 2023, at 10 PM. The bar can now be entered separately from the museum. As of June (although a run through the museum is pretty darn fun). Unfortunately, I will not be there in person (I am back in LA). But knowing you are there will make me happy (And I wanna see those pictures).

In June 2023, I got to be a tour guide at the Punk Rock Museum. And among the many incredible people and experiences. I connected with Jessie Lee, who recently moved from LA to Las Vegas. She works with the Punk Rock Museum. Jessie is a digital creator, model, and adult actress. She also hosts special, fun events and parties. It was so fun to hang out and talk to another LA girlie making her way in a new city.

So….if you are anywhere near LV – get ready to dive into the captivating world of Emo music as Jessie Lee curates a night filled with raw emotions and electrifying melodies. The atmosphere will buzz with the sounds of our favorite genre, creating an ambiance that will transport you back to the golden era of Emo.

But that’s not all! Brace yourself for a mesmerizing performance by Nick Ghanbarian @nickbayside, the renowned guitarist from the legendary band Bayside… Nick’s exceptional talent will undoubtedly make this night even more extraordinary.

The inspiration for this unforgettable event stems from a love of “the ‘Mo” that Jessie Lee and I share for Emo music.

So mark your calendars and slither out to The Triple Down Bar (in the world-famous The Punk Rock Museum) at 1422 Western Ave Las Vegas, NV, 10 PM – Late – for an evening that promises to be a celebration of Emo music and a reunion of kindred spirits.

Jean Michel Basquiat-King Pleasure In Los Angeles

    NOISE ON THE CANVAS
I visited the first exhibition presented by Jean-Michel Basquiat’s family in Los Angeles of Jean-Michel’s work. The expo is called King Pleasure, and seeing how a family presents the works is interesting. It is touching, beautiful and unique. The family opted to present the collection of art, memorabilia, and installations of Jean-Michel’s environment, along with playlists, projections, diaries, and more.

In conjunction with this exhibit and the Keith Harring exhibit at the Broad across the street – I went to see a panel discussion with Public Enemy co-founder #ChuckD, #KeithHaring Foundation Executive Director #GilVazquez, #LisaneBasquiat, sister of Jean Michel Basquiat, and producer curator and super badass #LorrieBoula discuss hip hop’s global impact, including its influence on visual art and culture.

The panel discussion is on the #thebroadmuseum Youtube channel – look up “How Hip Hop Became a Revolution in American Visual Art and Culture.” and visit #KingPleasure before it leaves Los Angeles in October 2023 – it is worth a visit to Los Angeles.

I look forward to getting tickets for another panel discussion with Lisane Basquiat in a few weeks.

What willWHAT WILL A TOUR LEAD BY JENNIFER FINCH BE LIKE?

The Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas houses the biggest collection of punk rock artifacts and art spanning decades. I (Jennifer Finch) will lead a small group of L7 and punk fans through the various rooms and talk about the collections. We can take photos and even grab a drink in the bar afterward. There is a ton to see and do. Groups may be as small as 3 and max at 20 to ensure an intimate experience.

Do I need to be an L7 Fan?

Although there will be L7-related connections, my tour style will most likely focus on the history of punk as a cultural production, my early days as a photographer, and (of course) L7.

Howevez, my focus will be on community, the collection, and the Punk Rock movement. I can almost guarantee that if you were not an L7 fan before, you will be one when you leave!

DO I NEED TO BE A PUNK Rock MUSIC FAN?

Absolutely not. However, it could help if you are a fan “of people,” as my passions are about the transitions of culture going from the top (like a corporate tastemaker) to small independent groups creating their culture and pushing it “out” to the world. Punk is a great way to describe that and other “breakdowns and rebellions” of modernity, post-modernism, and where on the “arrow-of-time” we are now. So, being an art history or philosophy nerd or media savvy could be fun, but not required.

WILL YOU BE TALKING ABOUT ANY OF THAT FEMINISM SHIT?

Oh HELL YEAH! You are going here to see how Punk ROCK is FEMALE in all its many forms and how it still lives in the souls of its mothers. Get the fuck ready, my friends! 🙂
