MOTOBLOT CHICAGO 2025 RECAP: A SOLID RIDE

Chicago always knows how to throw a party—and this recent Motoblot proved it once again! L7 had the honor of playing this festival alongside our old Warped Tour friends, Face to Face, and bands within the punk subculture. From load-in to lights-out, everything ran smoothly as a fresh-tuned engine. Huge props to the organizers for putting together such a well-oiled machine from the start.

The crowd was next level. Loud, rowdy, and as ready. You could feel the pulse of the city underneath those boots and bikes. We hit the stage and the energy came right back at us tenfold—pure, sweaty, sing-along catharsis in true Windy City style. It’s always been a second home for L7, and this show reminded us why: Chicago doesn’t fake it. You feel it.

What stood out most—besides the killer bikes, rad lineup, and the smell of BBQ and fuel in the air—was how dialed in everything was. Motoblot had its act together—professional, passionate, and punk as hell. You could tell this wasn’t just a show—it was a vision brought to life by people who care deeply about music, community, and culture.

Big love to everyone who made it happen and to every fan who showed up and threw down. If this was Motoblot’s first lap, we can’t wait to see what the next ones look like. Thanks for having us—we’ll be back.

Video Discussion with Fat Mike, Jennifer Finch, George Strombo, Kevin Lyman

I’m excited to share that—our Punk Rock Museum 2nd Anniversary Roundtable is on on YouTube.

In Full Form: Fat Mike, Jennifer Finch, George strombo, Kevin Lyman, Ed Colver, and Jack Grisham Had a Lot to Say

When you bring together Fat Mike, Jennifer Finch, George Stroumboulopoulos (Strombo) Kevin Lyman, Ed Colver, Jack Grisham, and Vinnie Fiorello, you get more than a roundtable—you get a full-force collision of punk history, sharp insight, and razor-edged wit. The conversation at the Punk Rock Museum swung from irreverent to reflective, with each voice offering a different lens on the cultural legacy and raw impact of punk—from the stage to the streets and everything in between.

    Punk Rock History

We delved into everything from punk’s past, history and cultural impact to the peculiarities of growing up with it ingrained in our DNA. I wasn’t sure what the dynamic would be like, but the chemistry was sweet and everyone brought something different to the conversation. The respect in the room was legit. Whether you’re a lifer or just punk-curious, you won’t want to miss this.

  • Hope > Optimism

    Hope > Optimism

Optimism is fickle, revealing itself when things are shiny and possible—when you’re already feeling good. Hope is different. Hope leans in when the world is broken and still tries anyway. It’s a commitment to possibility, even when the outcome is uncertain.

We don’t need performative positivity in the face of relentless, entrenched fascism. We need grown-up hope; the kind that fuels action. The kind that digs in, and gets dirty.

  • What Does Rebellion Look Like Now?

What Does Rebellion Look Like Now?

Is it an act, something you are, neither, or both? Calling out injustices and refusing to give space to anyone else’s message outside your own are good examples of rebellion in the past. Lately, other questions about what rebellion means have come to mind. Does it need to be loud? Verbally precise? Or rehearsed for that perfect moment? Like us, does rebellion evolve throughout time? Can it be quiet, or work in the background?

Perhaps real rebellion is remaining here, in the now, amidst all the flurry. It’s just listening to someone. It’s letting yourself rest, while the world embraces hustle culture and glorifies burnout. Maybe it’s surviving complicated situations with your values intact.

I’ve never considered myself rebellious; just unapologetically myself. Maybe that’s real rebellion.
